Gray skies welcomed the 2008 Motorama II to Michigan on Friday, September 12, 2008. However the sunshine of the warm welcome they received at Corvette Central more than made up for it. 54 Corvettes made their way through beautiful country roads to arrive on the CC Campus shortly after 4:00 p.m. As the cars made their way down the driveway, they were steered to pause and pose for their portrait in front of a banner of the Dana Forrester artwork "The Drop", then parked with room to spare. A fine cookout awaited the hungry travelers with corn on the cob, shish-ka-bobs, pasta salads and cookies. Some chose to take advantage of the tours offered to get an inside look at how America's Leader in Corvette Parts works, and many took advantage of the showroom counter to place an order to take home with them.
A full stomach and many happy smiles later, gift bags were handed out including CC Rain Ponchos. Seems like those were the big hit as the drops began to fall again as our visit ended with the Corvettes heading off to their next destination, Battle Creek, MI.
Everyone here at Corvette Central would like to say thank you to the drivers and participants of this year's Historic Motorama. We had an awful lot of fun hosting you and we hope that individually, you will not be strangers if you are in the area!
Happy driving, and Happy 100th General Motors!!
